Most assessments tell you who you are. Present Me tells you where you are.
Present Me.
There's who you are. And there's how you're meeting your life right now. They're not quite the same thing.
Present Me is an assessment designed to reveal your current orientation — the way you're engaging with your life at this particular point in time. Because knowing the place you're moving from can change what you see.
Present Me
A different lens
Same life.
A different lens.
What it looks at
See what's shaping the way you're moving through life.
Present Me looks beyond what you think you should want, what you've always done, and the roles you've gotten very good at carrying. It looks at what is happening underneath all of that.
What you're moving toward and what you're moving away from
Where you have momentum and where you've gone quiet
What feels important to hold onto right now
What you're questioning
What you may have outgrown but are still carrying
Where your energy is going
The difference between what you've learned to live with and what actually fits you now
Taken together, those things tell you something important: the place you're currently meeting your life from. Your orientation.
The five orientations
Five orientations.
Five very different
places to be.
Present Me identifies one of five orientations.

There is no ideal result. Each orientation comes with its own strengths, tensions, ways of seeing, and possibilities.

And none of them are permanent. Your result reflects where you are now.

Knowing where you are changes what you can see.

You can know that something has changed without knowing what the change means.

Present Me gives context to things that can otherwise seem separate. Why certain parts of your life feel different now. Why something that once mattered may matter less. Why you're drawn toward some things and pulling away from others. Why something feels difficult when you think it shouldn't.

Once you can see the position you're meeting your life from, you can begin to distinguish between what actually needs your attention and what you've simply been judging, pushing through, or assuming should still work.

You can see what your current position is giving you. What it may be costing you. What it may be making difficult to see. And what could become available from somewhere else.

That matters at any point in life.
In midlife, it can matter enormously.

Because by now, you've built a life. You've made choices. You've carried responsibilities. You've become very good at being certain versions of yourself.

And there is still life ahead of you.

Understanding where you are now doesn't tell you what to do with it.
It gives you a better place from which to decide.

Questions
Want to know what's behind Present Me?
These are the questions we hear most. If something isn't answered here, you can always reach us at hello@herselve.com
What is an orientation?
+
An orientation is the position you're taking toward your life right now.

It influences what gets your attention, what you move toward, what you avoid, what you protect, what you question, what you continue carrying, and what you may be ready to reconsider.

It is not the same thing as personality. Personality asks questions about what you tend to be like. Orientation asks something different: How are you meeting your life right now?

And that can change. Your circumstances change. Your priorities change. What matters to you changes. Life gives you new information. Things you once needed may no longer serve the same purpose. Things you once overlooked may suddenly matter much more.

Present Me is interested in where all of that leaves you now.
What do we mean by energy?
+
Nothing mystical.

In Present Me, energy is simply a way of talking about what you currently have available to bring to different parts of your life. The framework looks at eight:

Vital — your sense of aliveness and fuel
Directional — your sense of movement and where you're headed
Restorative — what brings you back
Creative — imagining, making, building, and generating
Emotional — how available you are to your emotional life
Relational — how you are showing up in connection with others
Intuitive — your relationship with what you already sense or know
Clarity — how clearly you can see what is happening and what matters

Present Me looks at how all eight are showing up from your current orientation.
How is your orientation determined?
+
Your result comes from the full picture created by your responses.

Present Me looks at how you're currently engaging with different parts of your life and identifies the orientation that most closely reflects where you are.

It isn't meant to define you permanently. It gives you a way to understand your current position.
What is Present Me based on?
+
Present Me combines established research on adult development and midlife with a methodology developed from years of work with women and close study of how women move through change, responsibility, identity, possibility, and transition.

Its foundation includes the Present Me orientation model, the Eight Energies, and a structured assessment designed to identify the position you are currently taking toward your life.

The result is not a personality type or a fixed label. It is a way of understanding where you are now, what is influencing that position, and what becomes easier to see once you understand it.
What Present Me is — and what it isn't
+
Present Me is a self-reflection assessment.

It is not a clinical assessment, diagnosis, mental-health evaluation, or substitute for professional care.

An orientation is not a label for who you are. And it isn't a prediction of what comes next.

It is a way of seeing where you are now.
There's power in being able to name where you are.

You can be living something long before you have words for it.

You notice certain things matter differently. Your energy isn't going where it used to. Some parts of your life feel clear. Others are harder to make sense of. You may know what you're experiencing without fully understanding what it adds up to.

Present Me brings those pieces together.

Your orientation gives you a way to recognize the position you're in. The Eight Energies show you how that position is showing up across your life. And your results give you a fuller understanding of what may be underneath it, what it's giving you, what it may be costing you, and what deserves your attention now.

There is something powerful about recognizing your own experience that clearly.

Oh. That's what this is.

From there, you're not working with a vague sense of things. You have something you can understand. Something you can work with. Something that can change how you see yourself, your life, the people around you, what's possible, and even midlife itself.
